As ever our episodes include trademark features such as Recastarama (where we recast the film using current actors) and Who Am I (where we work out who we would be in the film). Lots of fun to be had. [Our 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s series are also available]

From Star Wars to Saturday Night Fever, to The Godfather and Grease, Annie Hall and Alien, the 1970s was THE decade for great movies. Here at Easy Riders Raging Podcast we're looking back at all the classics of the decade, discussing the films of Scorsese, Friedkin, Coppola, Altman, De Palma and many many more. Aside from our discussions, each episode includes some of our trademark features such as Recastarama (where we recast the film using current actors) and Who Am I (where we work out who we would be in the film). Lots of fun to be had. [Our 1960s series is also available]

Dec 19, 2019

With help from The Cinemile, Number One Rerun Podcast, The Cinema Guys, Bang Average Movie and The IMDB Journey Podcast, Jev and I say goodbye to the 70s with an Oscars-style awards ceremony celebrating the best of the decade.

Dec 14, 2019

In this episode Campbell and I discuss our final 1970s film, Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now'- a beautiful, bonkers masterpiece.

Dec 8, 2019

In this episode I talk some Ridley Scott- specifically his directorial debut 'The Duellists'- and I wrap up my 1970s Stanley Kubrick coverage by talking about his super-long film, 'Barry Lyndon'.

Dec 2, 2019

Expect adult conversation (no swears though!) as I discuss 'Straw Dogs' (by Sam Peckinpah) and 'A Clockwork Orange' (by Stanley Kubrick), two dark, violent films released back in 1971.

Nov 22, 2019

Concluding our 1970s coverage of films by director William Friedkin (I couldn't get hold of 'The Brink's Job', in case you wondered why this wasn't covered), this week Kieran and I discuss his Oscar-winning cop film, 'The French Connection'.

Along the way we ramble on as if our lives depended on it, but have a bloody good chat about a 1970s classic.

Nov 13, 2019

Call Mr. Plow, that's my name. That name again, is Mr. Plow. And on this episode Kieran and I have a dynamite conversation on the film 'Sorcerer' by William Friedkin. A film we certainly had mixed opinions about but wholeheartedly agree you should check out if you haven't seen it.

Nov 6, 2019

For this our hundredth 1970s episode, Kieran and I return to the work of Francis Ford Coppola with a conversation about his film... 'The Conversation'.

Expect talk about 'Mad Men', 'Blow Up', introverts, the career of John Cazale and much more.

Oct 26, 2019

In this solo mini-episode, I talk about blaxploitation cinema by discussing 'Shaft' and 'Foxy Brown' (along with some talk about 'The Wiz' thrown into the mix).

Note- I do spoil the (pretty great) ending of 'Foxy Brown' towards the end of the episode (around the 7:00 minute mark). I thought it best to give you this heads up.

Oct 7, 2019

In this short, solo episode, I wrap up my 1970s coverage on the films of Woody Allen by talking about 'Interiors' and 'Manhattan'.

Sep 10, 2019

Returning after a brief hiatus, this week Kieran and I discuss a solid-gold classic 1970s film, Milos Forman's 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'.

Aug 10, 2019

In this episode Kieran and I talk about George Romero's zombie classic 'Dawn of the Dead' but we also spend time to discuss his film 'Martin' (from the same year) and his career in general.

But that's not all! We find time to talk about the Zack Synder remake, The Walking Dead, '28 Days Later', Gladiators we met, 90s haircuts, scrambled egg pasta and much, much more.

Jul 27, 2019

This week I was joined by Helen and Kobi from the fantastic Flixwatcher podcast (where they talk about films which are available on UK Netflix) for a fun chat about Woody Allen's signature work, 'Annie Hall'.

Aside from assessing how the film holds up in 2019, today's conversation will see us looking at Allen's career in general, as well as celebrating some of our favourite romantic comedies (which include 'Crazy Stupid Love' and 'When Harry Met Sally').

We also sing the praises of 'Shanghai Noon' (obviously), we touch on the origins of Richard Linklater's 'Before' trilogy, I have dig at the career of Terrence Malick and much, much, more.

Jul 11, 2019

In this solo episode I break down Michael Ciminio's three hour Vietnam war drama 'The Deer Hunter'... in under ten minutes.

And if you're a superfan, please be aware I am quite critical of this film. I mean, there's plenty to like about the film but, for me at least, the film doesn't live up to the promise of it's superb first hour even with some ridiculously iconic Russian roulette and a straight up incredible cast (De Niro! Walken! Streep! Cazale!).

Jul 7, 2019

In this episode- complete with 'musical' introduction- I discuss the William Friedkin film 'The Boys in the Band', based on the play of the same name.

This is a film about a group of queer men gathering to celebrate a birthday in a New York flat in the late sixties, specifically a year before the Stonewall riots.

Jul 2, 2019

Toga! Toga! Toga- 2000! Continuing our coverage of director John Landis' filmography, Kieran and I discuss 'National Lampoon's Animal House'. But does this beloved comedy classic hold up in the #MeToo era?

Along the way we compare this to The Young Ones (also, bizarrely, 'A Birth of a Nation'), we bring up the brilliant British sitcom 'Nathan Barley', food fights, 'power shandies' and we touch on (amongst other things) 'Porky's', 'Revenge of the Nerds', Kevin Smith's 'Mallrats' and 'Road Trip' (starring Tom Green- remember him?). We also talk about a band named Blubber, that you almost certainly haven't heard of....

Jun 23, 2019

This week Kieran and I discuss 'Five Easy Pieces' a quintessential 1970s character drama starring Jack Nicholson.

Jun 16, 2019

In this short solo episode I look at director John Landis' first two films 'Schlock' and 'Kentucky Fried Movie' (which contains the 30 minute martial arts spoof entitled 'A Fistful of Yen').

Expect talk of 'See You Next Wednesday' as well as the seeds of future work from Landis which can be seen here in his early works.

Jun 9, 2019

In this episode Kieran and I discuss cult British horror film 'Death Line' (AKA 'Raw Meat'). A film about cannibals who live in the London Underground tunnels and terrorise people in and around Russell Square tube station.

Jun 8, 2019

In this episode Kieran and I return to the work of the master of suspense- Alfred Hitchcock- with a discussion on the director's second to last film, 'Frenzy'.

Expect discussions of serial killers/ true crime, talk of Todd Solonoz's 'Happiness', misogyny, praise for the work of Michael Sheen and much, much more.

May 25, 2019

That's not a knife, and neither is this - it's a podcast! And on this podcast Jev and I discuss 'Wake in Fright' (AKA 'Outback'), an engaging but shocking Australian film about a teacher's nightmare-ish trip into rural Australia.

You can expect a tonne of questionable Australian impressions but discussion surrounding the kangaroo hunting sequence, the sexuality of the main character and whether or not that character is raped.

May 18, 2019

In this episode I wrap up my 1970s Martin Scorsese coverage with some thoughts on his films 'New York, New York', 'The Last Waltz' and 'American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince'.

Expect mentions of 'La La Land', 'This Is Spinal Tap' and 'Pulp Fiction', three films heavily influenced by today's batch of Scorsese's.

May 10, 2019

In this episode Campbell and I wrap up our 1970s James Bond coverage with a fun discussion on 'Live and Let Die' starring Roger Moore.

Along the way we discuss New Orleans, the world's most boring boat chase, the grim reality of Konaga's death and David Blaine in a box.

Apr 27, 2019

In this episode Kieran and I look on the bright side of life, as we discuss what may well be one of the greatest comedies of all-time- 'Monty Python's Life of Brian'.

You can expect many quotes (and some dynamite impressions from Kieran), a discussion of penises in comedy (as in genitals, not unlikeable people), talk of beloved UK sitcom 'Only Fools and Horses' and much, much more.

Apr 19, 2019

In this solo episode, I talk about the George Lucas film 'American Graffiti' AKA (to no-one) Happy Days: The Movie, AKA (to everyone) the film Lucas made before 'Star Wars'.

In this episode I talk about the pros and cons of this film as well as director Richard Linklater and the film 'Superbad'.

Apr 12, 2019

In this podcast Campbell and I discuss Dario Argento's horror classic 'Suspiria'.

Expect talk of the remake and of 'Berberian Sound Studio', mispronunciations of Italian names and the Ace Ventura franchise.
